The Plungis Project is the collective, multi-faceted, extensive effort to document, discover, and connect those of the Plungis lineage.
The Plungises are split into different branches organized by color. A family tree with all branches is available here. A constant goal of the project is to find connections between these branches and combine them, ultimately forming the full Plungis family tree.
(L-R) Ronnie, Jesse James, James H., Jason & Jennifer, Stephanie, Jeff.
Based originally in northern NJ, now much of the state, this was where The Plungis Project started. It includes various people including James H. Plungis, the first Plungis known to the project. New Jersey is the closest area to where the first Plungis, from Lithuania, immigrated to.
Based largely in Midstate NY & CT, many of these Plungises are from Connecticut originally but moved with George Plungis Jr. to New York. This represents the closest line of Plungises to where our research is based. George Jr. is the connection to most Plungises in this branch.
(L-R) Mary, George Jr., Ruth.
(L-R) Susan, Sharolyn, Kathy, Charles III (x2), Charles Jr., Cynthia.
FL, RI, CT, & AZ, based. Many of the members of this branch went into successful careers such as banking, real estate, and contracting with the military. Charles F. Plungis Jr. was the main link for this family.
A lesser known branch based around Albert R. Plungis. They are based in northern NJ, giving them a very close proximity to the Red Branch.
(L-R) Brian Plungis, Albert R. Plungis Jr., Paul Plungis
(L-R) Captain James "Jim" D. Plungis, Barbara M. Plungis
Originating in the same areas of CT as the Orange Branch, but also spreading to FL, the Light Blue branch may have fewer Plungises, but the Plungises it contains are and have lived accomplished lives.
Settling in CT, the White branch is confirmed to be connected to the Orange branch, but the specifics of this connection is still unclear. They are a historic branch with roots going back to Lithuania itself and more is being found out about them each day.
(L-R) Maricke, James W., Matthew, Lisa Mitnik(Plungis), Lori A. Mansfield(Plungis), Lucas, Stanislava, John J. Plungis
(L-R) Charles W. Plungis, Jennifer Mee-Mitchell (Plungis) & John Mitchell, Stephanie Palumbo Hansen (Plungis), George Hansen
A branch of the Northern NJ area, there is likely a relation to the other branches of the area. Charles W. Plungis is the premiere link of this branch and encompasses this overall smaller branch's hard work and service to their community.
